Hurtigruten
An extraordinary passenger experience for unique conditions

About
Approach
Remote practices
In a multi-site project, setting up smooth ways of working was essential. Transparency and communication were of paramount importance in this project, where we had to ensure a shared understanding between teams in two different locations and the crew of the vessel at sea. It was also critical to really understand user needs and the expected value of the end product right from the start. Our work kicked off with a proof of concept phase, followed by extensive prototyping.

Results
Smooth sailing
A pleasant passenger experience for sure is one without having to worry about the course of the journey and what happens when. We set out to design a sustainable, digital solution that gives the passenger all the right information at the right time – and replaces paper as a communications tool onboard.
Remote beauty
Hurtigruten’s routes travel by some of the world’s most uniquely beautiful – and remote – locations. This meant that our digital solution had to be able to do its job even without a continuous internet connection. Functionality was also an important factor design-wise. We wanted to keep the design minimalist and practical, and let the passengers spend some quality time admiring the unforgettable landscapes surrounding them.
